On 17th June 2017, a Help for Heroes team of eight wounded, injured and sick veterans and service personnel took on one world’s toughest endurance cycling events, the epic 3,081 mile Race Across America (RAAM).Having always dreamt of completing the RAAM as a solo rider, Jaco was eager to seize the opportunity to complete it as part of the H4H team.

Aiming to complete the race in less than 7 days, the riders were delighted to complete it in 6 days 12 hours and 36 minutes. From Oceanside in California across 13 states to the finish in Maryland the team averaged over 20 miles an hour and finished eighth out of the 87 starters.

They finished at half-past-three in the morning after a 3143 mile pedal-powered dash across the United State of America, breaking records along the way. Jaco and the whole team are delighted with their achievement, and to show people that no matter what they are faced with, don't let anything stop you from doing what you love.
